64K and 96K Organiser memory Usage

Post by amenjet »

On the XP the INFO menu option displays the amount of RAM free, but on the LZ it doesn't. Is there a way to see that an LZ actually has 64K of RAM? There doesn't seem to be a system variable that holds that value.
Is the extra memory just used for various allocation cells?

Regards

SPACE function

Andrew
You can use the OPL function SPACE which returns free memory space on a device

Code: Select all

OPEN "A:MAIN",A,A$
 PRINT "A: Free ";SPACE;" K"
GET
CLOSE

Others watching could try this, to show the space on any device...

Code: Select all

RAMsize:
LOCAL D%,D$(6)
UDG 1,16,18,20,24,20,18,0,31
UDG 2,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,31
CLS
DO
AT 1,1
PRINT CHR$(0);REPT$(CHR$(2),14)
CLOCK(1)
AT 1,2 : PRINT "Free Memory in?"
AT 1,3 : D%=MENUN(1,"A:,B:,C:,Quit")
 IF D%=0 OR D%=4 : RETURN :ENDIF
 AT 1,4
 D$=CHR$(64+d%)+":MAIN"
 IF EXIST(D$)
  OPEN D$,A,A$
  PRINT LEFT$(D$,2);" Free ";space;" k"
  CLOSE
 ELSE
  PRINT "No memory on ";LEFT$(D$,2)
 ENDIF
UNTIL D%=0
GET
Sincerely
