Store a Psion II organizer with or without battery?

Post by NickKostelidis »

Hello to all.
I would like to ask if we don't use a Psion II organizer for a long time,
it is better to store it with a battery or without battery.
What is your opinion?

It is generally better to store it without a battery (no chance of leaking battery and corrosion). One exception is if you have Rampacks. They are better stored in a powered organiser since there is no drain on the internal Rampack battery. A Rampack battery will last for any years in a powered organiser. I still occasionally find original ones from the 80’s with original batteries which still have some charge!

I suppose you could build a 'thingy' that had connectors for datapaks and a USB socket that you plug your RAMpacks into such that the USB PSU supplys a (very low) current to the pack, saving the battery. Then you can remove th ebattery from the organiser, saving it from potential leakage.
