Re: USB Comms Adapter

It looks like I've bought the HXA version so will need a 12MHz crystal to run it. I'll build some boards up and we'll see how they go.

Re: USB Comms Adapter

Guys I am not exactly into the M$ driver certification, but the whole thing is a bit complex as it depends by the vendor (vendor ID) driver signing with the M$. in the case of Prolific (PL2303): they suggest the use of their PL-2303GC as you can see on their site https://www.prolific.com.tw/US/Show...

NickKostelidis wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:21 pm Is that a chip that is recognised by Windows 11?
That's a good question, I don't have any Windows devices so can't test that. It's a different family of devices so between the two hopefully one will work, at least.

Re: USB Comms Adapter

https://en.manhattanproducts.eu/products/manhattan-en-usb-to-serial-converter-151856 This is another link for this adapter. I can't open this link (403 error) but searching the web for "manhattan-en-usb-to-serial-converter-151856" displays a USB to serial adapter that uses the FTDI FT232R...

I've bought a few 2303 ICs and will make a USB adapter based on it.

Re: USB Comms Adapter

https://www.google.com/amp/s/manhattanproducts.us/a/sc/amp/products/manhattan-en-usb-to-serial-converter-205146 This is an adapter that works in all OS including Windows 11. I don’t know the type of the chip there is inside. That link doesn't seem to work for me, but a search got me there. It says ...

Re: USB Comms Adapter

I just thought of something that I think will be useful for making the adapter. I use several usb to serial adapters. Some of them work only in Windows XP and Windows 7. Some others work with all OS except Windows 11. So Andrew I think that you have to choose a chip that works with all the operatin...

Re: 3D printing of Psion II parts.

Nick,

Useful information. I think for now I'll machine up a shroud part and see how that goes. It should be possible to make a clip that screws into the shroud part later.

Re: 3D printing of Psion II parts.

I think we may be talking about different features here...
By 'clip' do you mean the 'tongue' that slides into the organiser and is a shroud to the connector pins? Or the push-button featureat the top of the shroud that latches when it is fully inserted?

Re: 3D printing of Psion II parts.

Excuse me gentlemen. Have you seen the price of this machine? Yes, I have. New they are £2900, so this is a bit on th expensive side for a used machine. Two others have sold on ebay for <£900 and £1400. At £1400 if you make 100 case bits then they are £14 each. So per part, not massively expensive ...
