Deleting REMarks

Post by MartinReid »

Dear Gary (and all watching)

REM stands for REMark and any text after it will not be executed by the programme. Any textbook and 'teacher' will tell you to include lots of REMarks in you programmes so that in the future you can 'remember' what a particular algorithm or variable in used for.

But when your programme is large these extra characters take up memory space so there is a tendency to leave them out... How many times have I said "no problem I'll remember what this is for!" and months later when trying to add something, it all seems Greek (sorry Νίκος).

So yes in this case, after you have read and understood them, you can leave out all the text after and including all the REM statements.

Sincerely
Martin
