Wanted - topslot adapters

Post by Lepowerfulpierre »

If anyone has any topslot adapters (PSU adapters) either with or without LED I am looking for some. I need these for Olivier’s USB Comms Links. Any connecting device such as broken Comms Links or Paralinks would do as well, as long as the topslot casing is OK.

Martin Reid was toying with the idea of 3D printing some. It would be great if someone can take the idea up. There would not be enough interest to produce extrusion dies, but 3D printing would be affordable for the quantities anticipated.

Wanted - Topslot Adapters - 3D Printed Option

Post by MartinReid »

Have a look at the images of the prototype on the Comms Link page (link below). After I printed the first example the printer clogged up and I've never got round to clearing it, that's not to say it couldn't be fixed.

Olivier.. you mentioned that you might want to include a battery, if so we could adapt the design to anything needed.

Don't let this 3D printing conversation stop anyone with surplus top slot adaptors from coming forward.

Sincerely
Martin

Hi Martin,

Would you be prepared to share your 3D models? I would like to have a go at printing them, and if possible, revise them to suit materials and temperatures for a good print.

I'm having good success on an Ender-3 using PLA - which, whilst harder and more brittle than ABS, is easy to print accurately before changing to more durable materials suitable for casings.

3D Printing - Topslot Adaptors Cases

Post by MartinReid »

Dear schofiel

If you PM me your email address I'll send you the STL's. I'm not posting them here as I don't want them in the public domain - I've had problems before. I'm OK with you having a go at printing them as prototypes but when they're perfected they can only be released through Pierre's eBay store.

If you're OK with these conditions; PM me your eMail address and I'll forward the STL's.

To prevent overhangs and the need for 'supports' I divided the case into three elements. See the model in the link above. Printed in PLA on an Orian Delta

Sincerely and in good faith
Martin

That is remarkably generous - however, I have only just re-registered after Olivier's email announcing the new forum, so it might be a while before I am able to PM you!

I would be more than happy to comply with usage rules.

As soon as I am enabled to do so, I'll get in touch.
