Organiser II data logging

Post here your data logging examples for everyone to see. Perhaps add a little context information, printouts and/or OPL's that would be great.

Allowable attachment files types.
ZIP any file type not listed here can be saved into a ZIP archive and attached.
IMAGE all image types; remember to keep images to a maximum 900 x 900 pixels
Organiser File Types OPL, ODB and OPK (others types could be ZIPped.)
Printouts in the form of PDF's

Hello Martin.
I tried to upload an .odb file, but the system does not allow me to to upload this type of file.

Hello Martin.
I tried to upload an .odb file, but the system does not allow me to to upload this type of file.
It's all sorted now..
(1) You can insert an attachment in the text as a URL (second button from the right on the tool bar above (next to colour)). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g4hU7l ... sp=sharing inserted file name QPSION.odb. The file to be inserted needs to be saved on the internet and you create a link to it. I used my shared folder in google drive and [shared] the link and pasted it into here..
(2) You can use the Attachments tab below to attach ZIPs, Images and Organiser files OPL, ODB and OPK

Martin has suggested I mention some of the Data Logging applications I've attempted in this thread.
Initially, I'll expand on the Data Logging and Coding involved in the Cycle Power Meter project which I prototyped during the first UK Lockdown. The practical write up is on the FB group <https://www.facebook.com/groups/2111753 ... 8237837228>
The Data Logging was achieved using a Digitron SF10 topslot module which is capable of sampling four inputs at a maximum rate of 1Hz. A set of Analogue to Digital converters sample the analogue input signals, and assign digital binary values for the Organiser to read. Software supplied on the accompanying Datapak the allows the Organiser to display the measured parameters in realtime with the correct units of measurement on screen.
That aspect alone, is impressive, but there is yet more functionality to be harnessed.
Firstly, it is the simplicity of input which makes these units so versatile, because any parameter which can be represented in terms of a voltage, may be monitored and logged. Of course there are limitations and so most signals will require voltage scaling - back in the day this was taken care of by the Signal Conditioning Unit in front of the logger or UV recorder and it was usual to route signals through an operation amplifier where the gain could be adjusted appropriately. There are also interface modules, available originally from Digitron and later through Radiospares, which allow direct connection for temperature, pH levels, humidity, pressure, as well as scaling units for voltage and current.
Secondly, as well as displaying values on the screen in realtime, the Digitron unit allows the user to control, log, store and use the data in OPL routines. Details of the calls and syntax are given in the Digitron manual and although the prospect may seem daunting, the method of reading the values into a routine is fairly easy. From that point you are free to use the values as you would use any other numerical value in a routine.
My project involved reading two values, pedal pressure and pedalling rate, both converted to scaled voltages and sampled by the Digitron unit. The values were then used in a mathematical formula to calculate the power produced by the cyclist and the result displayed on the Organiser screen. The formula was recalculated each time the data values were resampled and the screen updated with the generated power.
The relevant section of the OPL routine is given below:

I upload two types of file that I use with my Psion II organizer (LZ).
The first one (posidon) is a measure data file, that I get from the organizer.
The format of this file is

0, KEKLIMENES APOSTASEIS :0 is the code for comments (KEKLIMENES APOSTASEIS = Slope distances)

1, S1, 1.565, S2, 0.0000 :1 is the code for Station points
S1 (Station point) ,1.565 (Instrument Height), S2 (Orientation Point), 0.0000 (Orientation Backsight angle)

2, 1 ,022.9530, 100.0520, 9.950, 1.700 :2 is the code for the measured points
1(Point ID) ,Horizontal angle ,Vertical angle ,Slope (or orizontal) distance , Target Height

The second one (test) is a coordinates file.
I upload this type of file to the organizer, when I want to mark points on the ground, using an opl app.
The format of this file is
Point ID , East (X), North (Y), Level (Z)

The Greeks, expert mathematicians, measure angles as a Gradian as opposed to Degrees used in the UK.

So for those interested Nicks measured angles convert to..

Don't you just love this stuff!

Also Nick how do you interface the Organiser II with the surveying instrument?
